Who We Are?

The original idea of the need for a Club dedicated to the HPR Breeds was trhe brainchild of Mr Geoffrey Farrand, an active member of the KC General Committee. He was supported by 52 interested persons at the inaugural meeting held on 29^th January 1992, following which the original North of England Hunt, Point retrieve Club was born.

To encourage members to enjoy the virtues of owning an HPR Breed, various activities have been organised since the inception of the Club. Support for these events comes from a wide geographical area of the British Isles and the Club is keen to continue to deliver an educational programme of events, around dogs in general and the HPR Breeds specifically.

The Club has a particular interest in promoting younger judges and exhibitors and has facilitated this by careful classification at shows and wherever possible offering classes to judges on ‘C’ lists of breed cubs.

The two Open shows held by the Club annually, provide an excellent overall classification, which encourages the numerically smaller breeds, including those on the Import Register. In order to ensure all exhibits are ‘Fit for Function’. Working aspects of the HPR Breeds are also promoted with the provision of training days in the field and organisation of competitions.

The Club has strong foundations and a very dedicated and thriving membership, along with the Officers and Committee who organise and lead all the activities.

Sitting on the Committee are a great talent of dog people, with a wealth of experience, members having given long service to the Club with five current Committee members being founder members.
